On the minute, it’s a brand that’s dividing opinion.
As idolized since it is hated, you must have seen some it everywhere, towards the great displeasure of their many critics, who feel that in France, Canada Goose is the new Moncler in a negative sense.
But on the reverse side of the fence, there are lots of fans who, for love nor money, would not spend a winter without their Canada Goose clothing (and who I believe simply have recently joined the club ).
Important: I lived in Montreal from the end of August 2012 to June 2013, thus i wore my Canada Goose Jacket Sale in different conditions (from nearly -20°C with wind, as much as 8°C once i returned to France for three weeks), thus i think I have got a rather extensive, clear view on the caliber of the product.
So, being a lover of men’s fashion, beautiful materials and good fitting clothing: exactly what do I think about bulky parka?
But before I report back, I’d want to take a moment to take into account Canada Goose’s brand image, which can be rather ambiguous…
Hate it or like it – 50 Cents feat. The Game
Ah…the price. This is basically the flag the critics of Canada Goose proudly wave. For the majority of haters (and believe me there are lots) you’re a sucker whenever you get a Canada Goose because:
Actually, everything can be better within an ideal world if Canada Goose wasn’t so expensive, as even biggest haters are unanimous over the standard of the pieces.
Considering the grade of this product, you get a lot for your money. I’ve looked and honestly, you can not find anything cheaper with the same quality (warning, my criteria failed to just boil down to ‘it has to keep me warm’, I’ll come back to which a bit down the road).
People often talk to me about North Face, which surprises me each and every time. Because if there’s a very expensive brand, it’s that. Honestly, to cover nearly 450 dollars to get a 100% synthetic parka (fur and down), made in China, now that’s Expensive for what it is. Find out more about synthetic vs down insulation here
And then there’s an aspect that’s never considered through the critics: the cut.
Because it must be noted that it’s difficult to find parkas cut and also some of the Canada Goose designs. I’ve rightly said some designs, because there are some that will make you look like a walking refrigerator.
walking refrigeratorSnow Mantra, 1200 Canadian dollars. It’s the warmest design, bound to make you stay warm as low as -60°. It’s made use of by Alaskan miners and those that operate in the oil industry in far-flung icy parts on the planet. There’s also a strap about the shoulder that can save you in an emergency. You won’t look anything special using this type of face up, but at the very least you’ll stay alive.
military inspirationBanff, probably the most modified form of the company, with a nice enough military inspiration. It’s only flaw? No pockets and also hardwearing . hands warm: it’s inside your interest to possess some gloves!
As being a side note, when you’ve spent the last 5 years looking for the best cut pieces of clothing to your figure, it’s a weighty argument. But I completely recognize that it’s possibly not the situation for anyone. Inside my case, I simply can’t overlook it.
‘Yes, but you’re spending money on a brand name!’
I’ll be truthful along, that’s what I thought to begin with, but it really isn’t the situation.
Really, not at all. As an example, Quartz Nature can be a less popular Quebec brand which has the identical prices as Canada Goose. Likewise, Kanuk, that is 100% a Quebec brand (the workshop is simply nearby to my home) is more expensive than Canada Goose, with prices easily exceeding the 800 dollar mark!
KanukA Quartz Nature parka, 620 dollars, with a quality that’s equivalent to Canada Goose, but with a completely different brand identity for Quebecers, because the products come in Quebec (french-speaking). As well as in that price, nobody dares to advise that you’re only investing in a brand…
So why these prices? The fur that you see on the hoods is pricey. Being a point of interest, Kanuk sells interchangeable furs for that hoods for between 200 and 300 dollars. And and then there are no secrets: for the piece that’s not made in China, with down and quality finish, you quickly make it to the 500/600 dollar price tag, or more. It’s the genuine price of things.
Kanuk (THE ultimate Quebec coat brand, but which costs a fortune and is also aimed at a slightly older audience) has this fur strip which alone costs…270 dollars!
I’ve gone off on the slight tangent, but it seemed necessary because, for me, Canada Goose is a that is unfairly stigmatized.
Right, so what’s it actually like wearing a Canada Goose parka on a daily basis?
There’s no part of drawing out your suspense: in the wintertime conditions of Montreal, it’s spectacular.
I am not surprised that this brand is given to workers in a few governmental bodies, because you get the feeling that its design is the result of a hellish expertise in the cold.
In my opinion, there are loads of brilliantly thought through details. That goes from your wire round the hood towards the thick, robust zipper (a detail sometimes missing from North Face designs, hello to the uphill battle when you’ve got gloves on) towards the two pairs of pockets for your hands lined completely with fleece, without forgetting the thick fleecey chin-protector.
And does it really help keep you warm?
Completely. It’s as though you’ll never feel the cold again. Even that slight morning freshness, or when you’re awaiting the bus, or if you walk home following a winter’s particular date, you happen to be never cold. I can’t remember being cold once this winter. The security versus the wind is exceptional. One weekend, I found myself at a carnival in Quebec, that is certainly to mention spending six hours outside having a temperature that’s approaching the -20°s, but with some wind (I do not know just how much this g0ose the way the temperature feels, but say no less than an extra -10°) and it ought to be noted that you’re protected perfectly from your cold. Even at -20°. Even the duration of the zipper remains safe and secure, which implies the wind just never gets nearby the inside of your parka.
What’s more, the hood is super well-built, and even when you don’t use it up, it protects your ears. Basically this hood that protects your mind perfectly from high winds is very great, really effective.
On the other hand, these aren’t the clothes for a sustained sporting activity. If you’re skiing at -15° and it’s windy, you’re definitely going to sweat. Originally, Canada Goose Jacket Sale were created for workers doing plenty of standing around (which explains why bouncers love the brand). Extreme mountain climbers tend to consider brands like PHD, with equally impressive technical features. The Wiggy brand has some completely fire-proof parkas…
Nonetheless we’re still lightyears from a Wooyoungmi coat owning an absolutely perfect cut. But having tested a number of, Canada Goose is one of those rare parka brands to care about the cut of a selection of their designs. Therefore I was surprised to discover that this shoulders of Banff, Chateau, Ontario and Citadel designs (probably the most ‘tight-fitting’ designs, things relative) have been worked on and therefore are relatively high. If chosen well for your personal size, the parka doesn’t hang off the shoulders, it’s tidy and neat.
Finally, and so i was surprised, it is always the case using the most urban pieces that a size S is really a ‘true S’. Similarly, Canada Goose even does a size XS which can be good to know.
